NYFW Trend Spotting: Color

New York Fashion Week is always a whirlwind. As someone who reviews every show from home dressed in Pajamas rather than Stilletos, I am incredibly thankful for websites like Style.com that really make me feel as if I'm part of the action. NYFW marks the start of Fashion month and drooling over these collections is the only thing that could possibly make me look forward to another winter at the moment. (My hands are still numb from shoveling snow.) One of my favorite things to do to stay on top of it all is to sort through all the shows and pick out subtle trends to keep my eye on. I break them down into categories of Color, Texture, Print and Shape and I decided this year I should share them with you!

Red was huge on the runways this season, and grey certainly is the new black. I picked up on two smaller trends that I am really crushing on at the moment: Monochromatic head to toe as well as Burgundy and Pink.

Above All Else, Guard Your Heart

Okay, y'all. (I have been on a serious y'all kick lately. I would never say it out loud- I would be humiliated. I have never lived in Texas, but I have enough Texas family -Hi Singletary's, Lakes, Beckhams, Foxworths, and Dorans! - to hear it all the time. And so, I've decided I can type it. What's in a Name?

My name doesn't have much meaning. In fact, I was almost a Stacy. My older sister Kristen and I have always said we should have switched names, for she is far more "Jill" than I ever was. I had lavish dreams of having a unique name-Azure, Jade, something that made people say, "one more time?" I decided if I couldn't change my own name, I'd just have to live vicariously through my babies. At 8 I filled my diary with "V" names for my 5 girls: Violet, Vanessa, Victoria, Valerie and Vivian. When I was 10 years old, one episode of VH1's Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous left me dead-set on naming my children Bentley and Bacardi, regardless of gender.
